29 SISC Swimmers participated at the Fenland Open Meet at Whittlesey Pool over the weekend (Sunday 29th) with great success, Medals, Lifetime Best Swims and County A Championships qualifying times achieved for 2023, all in all a good resounding weekend of swimming by all who participated. Junior swimmers of the Club participated in the second round of the Junior Fenland League against Clubs from all over East Anglia. This time it was a home gala at St Ives against Ely, Mildenhall and Thetford. A night of fast and close racing ensued particularly between ourselves and Ely over the 45 events which saw swimmers from 9-13 years of age battle it out in all four strokes of Backstroke, Breastroke, Butterfly, Freestyle and the Individual Medley events too. William Roberts who has been selected to swim for Great Britain at the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Portugal on 14 - 23 October 2022. William is a dedicated athlete who has swum superbly to achieve this recognition, he trains robustly alongside his peers at St Ives SC and always focuses on being the best he can be in the aquatic environment. Great results where Tessa Quayle swimming for the first time in a 50m pool made the finals in both the 50 and 100 metres breastroke events. She qualified 5th fastest for the 50m final and swam superbly to finish 4th, and during the day gained a new lifetime best time of 35.90. On the Sunday she then qualified 7th fastest for the 100m Breastroke final and she finished 6th in a superb lifetime best time of 1.22.20, 1.5 seconds faster than her heat qualifying time, great swims both against athletes...

Chloe & Ciara both 17 years old, swam at the Swim England East Region Swimming Championships at Norwich last weekend, both swam superbly against competition not only from Cambridgeshire Clubs but also those from Bedfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Hertfordshire and Suffolk. Ciara swam 1.09 for 100 Butterfly and 29 Secs for 50 Freestyle. Chloe Swam 1.08 for 100 Butterfly and 2.44 for 200 Breastroke, making the final for the latter in 5th qualification place, where she swam another 2.44 to finish 4th in the Open Ladies age group. 34 Swimmers from St Ives SC competed at Whittlesey Pool on 23 & 24 April against the other Cambridgeshire Swim Clubs at the County's annual development meet for new and emerging swimmers, and a few more seasoned athletes too. Swimmers from St Ives Swimming Club travelled to Corby at the weekend to participate in the Corby Swimming Club annual spring open meet in the 50m East Midlands Olympic Pool. For many of our swimmers from 10 years old plus it was their first competition in a venue of this magnitude, yet they rose to the challenge magnificently and produced a plethora of personal lifetime best swims, top 6 placings and medals across the range. A group of 13 junior and novice swimmers from the club at Boston for the first round of the Junior Fenland League. Up against the hosts Boston as well as Huntingdon and St Neots, the Ives squad did not disappoint and came away with a hard fought second place, Boston taking the win with St Neots third and Huntingdon fourth. Four St Ives swimmers put on a fine display at the Level One Putteridge Open - with one going on to achieve qualification for the British National Swimming Championships.
