Chloe & Ciara both 17 years old, swam at the Swim England East Region Swimming Championships at Norwich last weekend, both swam superbly against competition not only from Cambridgeshire Clubs but also those from Bedfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Hertfordshire and Suffolk. Ciara swam 1.09 for 100 Butterfly and 29 Secs for 50 Freestyle. Chloe Swam 1.08 for 100 Butterfly and 2.44 for 200 Breastroke, making the final for the latter in 5th qualification place, where she swam another 2.44 to finish 4th in the Open Ladies age group. 34 Swimmers from St Ives SC competed at Whittlesey Pool on 23 & 24 April against the other Cambridgeshire Swim Clubs at the County's annual development meet for new and emerging swimmers, and a few more seasoned athletes too. Swimmers from St Ives Swimming Club travelled to Corby at the weekend to participate in the Corby Swimming Club annual spring open meet in the 50m East Midlands Olympic Pool. For many of our swimmers from 10 years old plus it was their first competition in a venue of this magnitude, yet they rose to the challenge magnificently and produced a plethora of personal lifetime best swims, top 6 placings and medals across the range. Swimmers from the club swam at the Luton Level 1 meet in the 50 metre pool, weekend of 19-20 March 2022. A group of 13 junior and novice swimmers from the club at Boston for the first round of the Junior Fenland League. Up against the hosts Boston as well as Huntingdon and St Neots, the Ives squad did not disappoint and came away with a hard fought second place, Boston taking the win with St Neots third and Huntingdon fourth. Four St Ives swimmers put on a fine display at the Level One Putteridge Open - with one going on to achieve qualification for the British National Swimming Championships. Six St Ives swimmers competed at the first big Regional Championship post lockdown weekend of 6th November. Cathy , Chloe, Tom, Ciara and Amy seen in the photo plus William all competed at the Luton Olympic Pool in the East Region (Cambs, Beds, Herts, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk) swimming championships. Cathy, one of our Senior swimmers, represented SISC at British National Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, weekend of 30th October. Cathy swam superbly well and won 2 Silvers for the 100 Backstroke & 400 Front crawl events and 1 Bronze Medal for the 200 Front crawl event, at the National Championships.

On Sunday 17 October 38 St Ives Swimmers competed against clubs such as March Marlins, City of Peterborough, Ely, St Neots, Wisbech, Chatteris etc in the first Club Open meet since the beginning of the pandemic. Many of our young swimmers competed for the first time at a multi-club gala and they swam superbly, posting many lifetime best swims and winning many medals to boot. Saturday 2nd October was the first of our Time Trials at St Ives Swimming Club. Swimmers from all squads took part in a Level 4 meet, to gain new and up to date licensed times. For some of our swimmers this is the first time they have competed in a licensed meet and others were glad to get the chance to gain new times!
