Four St Ives swimmers put on a fine display at the Level One Putteridge Open - with one going on to achieve qualification for the British National Swimming Championships. Six St Ives swimmers competed at the first big Regional Championship post lockdown weekend of 6th November. Cathy , Chloe, Tom, Ciara and Amy seen in the photo plus William all competed at the Luton Olympic Pool in the East Region (Cambs, Beds, Herts, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk) swimming championships. All the athletes swam superbly with many lifetime best swims achieved in Breastroke, Frontcrawl and butterfly from distances of 50m to 400m. William won Bronze in the 50m frontcrawl race for the S14 disability class which was a great achievement...

Cathy, one of our Senior swimmers, represented SISC at British National Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, weekend of 30th October. Cathy swam superbly well and won 2 Silvers for the 100 Backstroke & 400 Front crawl events and 1 Bronze Medal for the 200 Front crawl event, at the National Championships.

On Sunday 17 October 38 St Ives Swimmers competed against clubs such as March Marlins, City of Peterborough, Ely, St Neots, Wisbech, Chatteris etc in the first Club Open meet since the beginning of the pandemic. Many of our young swimmers competed for the first time at a multi-club gala and they swam superbly, posting many lifetime best swims and winning many medals to boot. Saturday 2nd October was the first of our Time Trials at St Ives Swimming Club. Swimmers from all squads took part in a Level 4 meet, to gain new and up to date licensed times. For some of our swimmers this is the first time they have competed in a licensed meet and others were glad to get the chance to gain new times! Last weekend it was great to have some of our swimmers compete in their first event of 2021. Swim England East Region, the counties of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and Norfolk ran a Festival of Swimming event at the London Olympic Pool to get the best of the Regions talent back swimming at a competitive level so soon after Team GB's swimming success at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. We are back in the pool! Thanks to all Covid Volunteers, Committe and Coaches - we are back in the pool and welcome our over 18's from the 17th May! Flounders, swimming lessons have started for our higher level swimmers, we will do everything possible to get all Flounders back by September!

Yesterday was the last night of swimming for 2020 and in what has been a tough year for everyone, I am incredibly grateful to all involved at SISC.
