We had 3 swimmers who took part in the Great East Swim Saturday 22nd June. They saw the best conditions experienced at the Great East swim since 2011 – the sun was shining and the water temperature was 19 degrees and the water was also fairly flat! Val swam the 5k and was the fastest lady in her age group and second overall. SISC triumphed on Saturday night (22nd June) and brought back the Mendis Trophy! Young and old swimmers pulled together throughout the evening, and were joint first with Wisbech going into the final 8 relays.  After a nail biting set of relays for Dale, swimmers and parents we came through winning 5 relays and coming 2nd in the other 3. Weekend of 15-16th June, St Ives Swimmer Cathy Thomson swam at the British Masters National Championships at Swansea representing St Ives Swimming Club (and Cambridgeshire) in the 25-29 years class.  She competied against younger swimmers in the same age group, after a fantastic weekend of tough and gruelling swims, Cathy came away with 6 medals and 1 record: Gold in the 200 metres Individual Medley and to boot she broke the Regional Masters record for this event too Gold in the 200 metres freestyle Silver in the 50 metres Freestyle...

Saturday 8th June we participated in a tough round of competition for athletes 9-13 years old when they raced against Peterborough A team, Peterborough B Team, First Strokes Godmanchester and Bottisham at Newmarket on the 8th June in the 3rd round of the Junior Fenland League, a hard competition the athletes battled amazingly all night, St Ives swimmers took 14 1st places, 17 2nd places, 7 3rd places from 45 events including winning the Squadron relay at the end of the night, when the dust settled St Ives had prevailed...

On Sunday 26 May 19 at Fenland Open Meet, Whittlesey, 41 St Ives swimmers competed with excellent results.  A plethora of lifetime best swims were achieved across the age spectrum of the swimmers, a superb and hard days swimming from all the St Ives athletes who performed magnificently We bought home 30 medals: 11 Golds, 12 Silver, 7 Bronze Congratulation go to Ed, Will and Connie won Top Swimmers in their age groups.  Medal Winners were Harrison P- Silver 50 Breast and Silver 50 Back Lottie F- Gold 100 Free...

A small cadre of St Ives Swimmers competed at the Junior Regional Swimming championships at Norwich 50 metre pool over the weekend of 25-27 May 19. Olivia, Anna, and Ciara (all 3 pictured L-R) and Luke all competed exceptionally well over the course of the weekend in events ranging from 50 breastroke, 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly and 100 Freestyle. Ciara won the Bronze in the 14 years 50 butterfly final in a time of 29.90 seconds. Great swims by all the athletes who have trained hard...

Congratulations to Ed who has qualified to represent GB and his age group for the 2019 Romanian ETU Aquathlon European Championships in July.  Ed qualified by taking part and coming 10th in The National Aquathlon (Swim, run) last summer. This is a great display of the training and dedication from Ed during his swim training. SISC have been a part of this journey so far for him and all the swimming training he receives through the club, non of this would have been possible without the work of the coaches....

St Ives Swimming Club were represented at Regionals, by our Gold Sharks swimmers, Fran Crocker, Chloe Butler, Lottie Flynn, Tom Davis, Harry Everett, James Quinn, Cathy Thomson and Toby Offord. They all performed well and clocked a number of lifetime bests. James broke his own East Region record with a fine time of 29.94 when storming to 50m success and followed up with another terrific performance over 100m. He completed a dominant display by adding the 200m event to his collection. Well done to all our swimmers!

Saturday 27th April we watched a team of younger swimmers compete in the Junior Fenland League Round 2.  They all swam really well and made us proud. They came 2nd overall on the night.  It is great to watch and see smiles on the swimmers faces, they are our next generation of swimmers.  Thanks to the parents supporting and bringing them out on a Saturday night, and the Team Captains are doing an amazing job of supporting our younger swimmers in this league.
