What is Masters?

Masters swimming is swimming for adults, encompassing the whole range of ability from casual fitness swimming to highly organised competitive swimming. The only requirement is that you are at least 17 years old and can swim a minimum of 1500 freestyle metres in an hour.

Here at Sevenoaks Swimming Club, we have a very active Masters section that includes ex-Junior squad members wanting to continue their swimming with Sevenoaks, members who swam as a junior and want to start all over again, along with adults who have learnt to swim in ‘later’ life and want to benefit from the structure of a club session.

Some of the squad compete in local and national Masters events, some use it to train for other events such as Triathlon or Channel swims; we have an active open water section but most use it as a way to keep fit.

We run two sessions a week. Our main squad night is on a Wednesday from 8-9PM at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre. Here we have full use of the pool and the session is coached to help you improve your efficiency and technique. The other session in on a Sunday from 7-8.30PM at Sevenoaks School. This session is also coached and we use 3 lanes of the pool.
