History

South Croydon Swimming Club was founded in November 2008. The mission of the founding members which included Rachel Wootton & Phyllis Grout who are still with us today was to create a swimming club within the local borough catering for all swimming abilities from beginners to national level and for all swimmers to reach their own potential. In October 2011, we were joined by Head Coach John Mills OLY, a two times Olympic Butterfly swimmer.

Our aim is to give knowledge and experience, to encourage swimmers of all abilities to train well and enjoy their swimming and their time in the pool as well as form friendships and become part of the friendly South Croydon SC Team.

We aim to be flexible towards the varying needs of our swimmers within a friendly club environment. That said, we do have a highly competitive squad and for a small club have achieved exceptional results. Our squads train at Whitgift & Old Palace School Pools, Purley, Tadworth & Waddon Leisure Centres, Crystal Palace & New Addington. Training is led by our Head Coach John Mills, assisted by a great team of coaches & support volunteers, who help with membership, finances, galas, welfare, club shop etc. Since January 2014 the Club has supported the Crystal Palace Club Network by integrating its performance squads into the sessions run at Crystal Palace. Applications from County Qualifying swimmers and above are encouraged (The CPCN currently charges £25 per month) Enquiries to CPCN via Head Coach.
