DASC Mission
Dunfermline Amateur Swimming Club (DASC) is a friendly and inclusive family club working to give all swimmers the opportunity to enjoy and develop their swimming.
DASC Vision
To promote the joy of swimming recreationally and competitively to all club members, at all levels.
TRAINING
We train at Carnegie Leisure Centre and Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre.
SwiMark is Scottish Swimming's national quality accreditation programme for clubs.
DASC has been involved with the SwiMark Accreditation Scheme since May 2016 when the club successfully achieved SwiMark accreditation.
On 1st June 2020, Scottish Swimming awarded our club the highly acclaimed SwiMark plus accreditation. This top accolade demonstrates DASC are leading the way by setting exceptional standards for swimming in the community including strong coaching and effective management structures.
SwiMark plus is the highest accreditation awarded and successful achievement confirms that DASC has demonstrated a commitment to creating a sustainable swimming development pathway, operates a safe, effective and child-friendly club whilst providing a service in the community that children and young people of all abilities, their parents/carers, and others with an interest in swimming can trust.
The award will be formally presented to the club by Scottish Swimming in due course.
We take great pride in the reputation of our club as being inclusive, welcoming, friendly and family oriented. We cater for all levels of swimmer and seek to assist each individual to achieve whatever they desire from their participation in water sports. We have a range of swim squads catering for early swimmers to competitive swimmers and masters. The squads are ability based and a programme of development provides progression through the squad structure.
Membership is open to anyone over 5 years old and a trial swim will be assessed by one of our coaches so that a suitable squad can be chosen. While our main goal is to nurture and develop swimmers to a level of competence where they may represent the club at competitive events, we also recognise the general fitness, mental health and social benefits to be derived from active participation within a safe and structured environment.
Our squads meet at Carnegie Leisure Centre and Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre. We are also travelling for specialist sessions at Stirling University, Royal Commenwealth Pool and Michael Wood Leisure Centre. To see us in action, to find out more or to ask any questions, just come along on our 'Club Night' each Friday evening at Carnegie Leisure Centre from 6-9.30pm where there will be someone from our committee in the viewing areas to speak to.
