Joining the Club

Dunfermline Amateur Swimming Club is always happy to hear from new swimmers whether they have been a member of a swimming club before or are members of another club looking for a change.

Our squads are structured to encourage progress and develop swimmers of varying abilities. The minimum requirement for our beginners "Dolphins" squads is to be 5 years old and be able to swim a minimum of 5 metres unaided.

Please note that some squads operate a waiting list so there may be a wait until a place can be offered.

Becoming a Member:

If you have any questions about joining DASC please email [email protected]

For swimmers under the age of 18:  If you and your child decide they would like to join, your swimmer will be asked to come for a trial (usually the last Friday of a month at 6.30pm in Carnegie Leisure Centre) to ensure we place the swimmer in the right squad for their ability.  You will need to fill out this trial form before coming to the trial. This form simply captures the swimmer's details; name, age, DoB, swimming ability and any lessons or club experience.

After the trial, the Squad coaches will advise which squad is appropriate and the Membership Secretary will contact you with joining details or to let you know if there is a waiting list for your squad.

For adult swimmers:  We have a Master Swimmers squad.  They swim with the Platinum Squad and the session times can be found here.  You are welcome to come along to a masters session to see what it is about and if it what you are looking for prior to joining to the club.  Please fill in the Masters trial form to arrange this.

The Joiners Process:

Once a trial has taken place and you accept an offer to join the club the following process should be followed:

  • Complete the New Swimmer Information Form  and return to the Membership Secretary (download and type in the answers, save and email, or print, write and scan) to [email protected] or print, complete and pass the paper copy to a coach or committee member)

  • Once they have received your New Swimmer Information Form, the membership secretaries will get you registered with Scottish Swimming.  You will then receive confirmation direct to yourself from Scottish Swimming.

  • Pay the annual SASA fee to the club within 28 days of receiving the confirmation from Scottish Swimming to ensure that your swimmer is covered by the Club's insurance.

  • Set up a direct debit for the monthly squad training fees.

If the swimmer is moving from another club:

If the swimmer has previously been registered with Scottish Swimming but is not currently a member:
