A year ago, DASC's Management Committee and Coaches held a planning meeting with Scottish Swimming to establish the steps required to be completed in order to achieve SwiMark Plus - Scottish Swimming’s highest level of accreditation.

Each month the committee has embarked on reviewing, revising and signing off our extensive swiMark criteria before engaging in consultative activities across the club, implementing revised/new policies and procedures, analysing data and producing our 3 year development/action plan.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that despite the difficult times our club has faced over the past few months, our Club was awarded SwiMark Plus accreditation on 1st June 2020 by satisfying (to acceptable levels) the criteria listed below:

  • To have affiliated to SASA
  • To have achieved swiMark
  • Three-year club development/action plan
  • Volunteer Management
  • Volunteer Retention
  • Hardship Fund policy
  • Annual budget and report
  • Team Manager
  • Evidence of Community Partnerships
  • All coaches licensed
  • Ongoing education for swimmers, coaches and parents

This accreditation confirms a commitment to encouraging sustainable growth within the club structure and to support all aspects of club development, whilst fully embracing the principles of a community club.

Many thanks to the committee and coaches in delivering this huge achievement through endless hours of blood, sweat and tears - it really is a remarkable achievement illustrating DASC's resilience, drive and passion to lead the way in terms of setting exceptional standards and swimming programmes within Fife.

This lays the foundations for an exciting year ahead - we all look forward to welcoming everyone back to training when it is safe to do so.
