Silver Development and Silver Squad

The Silver Development squad are working on refining stroke technique and building and improving stamina.  

The Silver squad are a more performance level. The focus on Silver is to refine the technique within each stroke, improve stamina, and ensure all swimmers swim within the rules in preparation to compete if desired.

Swimmers should be 8 years or over, able to follow complex instruction, be aware of basic poolside safety, have a solid knowledge of lane discipline and be able to use aids such as a pace clock (with assistance). Silver Swimmers should be able competent in all 4 strokes, and meet/exceed 50m sprint time as set out by the club. Swimmers should have knowledge of and be able to execute start, turns and finishes for all 4 strokes, and demonstrate good diving skills. Silver swimmers should have a basic understanding of the drills used within each session and why they are used. Silver Squad swimmers should have a basic knowledge of the rules of swimming as set out by FINA.

Session Times:

  • SILVER DEV & SILVER - Wednesday 18:15-19:15 @Cowdenbeath

  • SILVER DEV & SILVER - Friday 19:00-20:00 @ Carnegie Leisure Centre

  • SILVER DEV - Monday 18:30-19:30 @Lochgelly Leisure Centre

  • SILVER - Monday 18:30-19:30 @Lochgelly Leisure Centre

    Once a month these Saturday sessions will be replaced with a session at a 50m pool in Stirling, Glenrothes or Edinburgh please see events section.

Competition:

The Silver Squad swimmers are encouraged to enter the Fife Novice Leagues, Friendly Galas, and age and performance appropriate galas. Some Silver squad swimmers may be asked to join the Fife League depending on their ability. We also encourage all Swimmers to take part in our own gala held in June of each year and our club championships in October/November.
