British Summer Championships and English Nationals 2018

What a spectacular week Manfred Battle(16) has had at British Champs at Ponds Forge Sheffield.
Manfred made a good start to the week with the 50m Backstroke , which he swam in 28.26 PB finishing 15th .The next day was the 100m Backstroke finishing 10th in the heat 1.00.00 in which this was yet another big PB of over 1 second then in the Final another PB of 59.96 finishing 9th
Manfreds next event was his favourite 100m Butterfly Manfreds entry time was 58.72 in the heat he was 5th in 57.35 nearly a second and a half PB giving him yet another Final, where he magnificently stepped up again taking 6th Place with a 57.00 Yet another PB.
Manfreds last day on Sunday , was again very exciting this time it was 200m Backstroke a Four Second PB of 2.09.53 placing him 8th into the Final, in a time of 2.09.46 PB taking a worthy 9th place,. This was quickly followed by the 50m Butterfly taking 8th in the Heat 26.43 PB and yet another PB in the Final taking 8th Place 26.35. What an amazingly talented young man Manfred is , 5 events , 4 Finals, Total of 9 swims all PBs, We wish Manfred well in his new College in Cambridge, his new Home in Cambridge , and his new Swimming Club , City Of Cambridge. Very Best Wishes to a very talented swimmer, we are sorry to see him go and will be watching his swimming continue to grow.
Also travelling to Sheffield for The British Summer Championships was Lija Radziunaite(16) to do her favourite event 50m Backstroke.
Lija has had quite a difficult season this year , having to withdraw at the Regionals after the 50m Backstroke as she was unwell, and had not qualified for any other events this year.
In the 50m Backstroke at British Champs Lija finished in a time of 30.93 , Unfortunately not a Pb this time, but had made a great effort with a superb start, and swam strongly into 13th Place.
We wish Lija well for September and the future in her new College in Ipswich and her move to Team Ipswich.
ENGLISH SUMMER NATIONALS 2018 Ponds Forge, Sheffield
Congratulations to Sophie Lander (13) who Qualified in her very first Nationals in the 50m and 100m Backstroke.
In her first event 50m Backstroke Sophie did a solid swim in a time of 32.46 , just missing her entry time of 32.28 , but finishing in a worthy 13th place. On day Two Sophie swam a superb 100m Backstroke in a heat time of 1.09.05 PB and securing a place in her first National Final in which she did another great swim taking 8th Place. Good luck to Sophie in the coming Season.
