The Poole Swimming Club Pathway
Poole Swimming Club (PSC) provides a pathway from learning to swim, through to providing a competitive programme enabling athletes to progress to where their potential will reach; through Club, County, Regional, National and International levels of competition.
PSC works with facility partners at Talbot Heath School, Canford School, Poole High School, Everyone Active and Bournemouth University. Being underpinned by support from affiliated local schools and learn to swim programmes, PSC offers modern facilities, coaches with international and Swim England National pathway experience and welfare care. Swimmers therefore enjoy a rich and rewarding experience in reaching their performance potential.
Each athlete is assigned a squad coach to work with for a season. Additional support for parents consists of each academy having a parent squad co-ordinator to act as a liaison for members with club and competition entry advice.
All parents, members and swimmers are expected to be aware of and practise the PSC Code of Conduct (available on the PSC website).

Entry to PSC and Pathway Progression
For our Learn to Swim Academy there is no standard of swimming required as we nurture non-swimmers through our pathway until they transition into strong, confident and competent swimmers. Selection for the club’s competitive academies are made at the culmination of each season in preparation for the following season.
Masters, Junior or Senior Club session trials will be arranged, where participants will be expected to have experience of a swimming training environment.
To join the Open Water team, participants must be in the Competitive Skills Academy or higher and can attend a trial and acclimatisation session at the start of each season when the coaches and the athlete will agree participation in the forthcoming season.
To join the Bournemouth University Swim Team, assessments are made during Freshers week.
