6 Selections for Swim England National Pathway Camps Swim England recently selected swimmers from across the country to take part in three camps at Regional/National Level and its proud news for the pathway at Poole Swimming Club with 6 swimmers being selected across the junior programmes. Swim England run their camps for the top 12-year-olds through each region. Our Learn to Swim Academy once again entered the Poole Lions Club Annual Swimathon, a sponsored team swim, which took place back in February. Poole Swimming Club has taken part for many years in these great charity event, which raises funds for many local good causes. It was a particularly successful night for Poole Swimming Club on Wednesday night, as a group of athletes, as well as our very own Dr Jan were recognised for their achievements in 2019 at the Poole Sports Awards. It is with deep sadness that Poole Swimming Club have heard of the death of Wendy, after a short illness which was so bravely borne. The club’s sympathy is with Wendy’s husband Alan, and children Jo and Paul, and their grandchildren, and all of Wendy’s family at this very sad time. Poole Swimming Club would like to say a huge thank you and well done to the Swimmers in Gold Squad who set themselves a challenge to swim 4 ½ miles in their Around Brownsea Island Challenge in their swim sessions. Dr Jan’s National 2 Squad headed north for a weekend of racing at Ponds Forge International in Sheffield at this year’s popular Burns Meet.
