English Schools Swimming Association 63rd National Team Finals

After a strong qualifying gala against the Schools in the South West during October, Poole Swimming Club athletes helped their school teams qualify for the 63rd National Team Finals at the iconic Queen Elizabeth London Aquatic Centre.

Only the top 20 teams from around the country were invited to the finals, with a high standard of swimmers to compete against.

The teams that qualified for the finals, all qualified in both the 4 x 50m Medley and 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay.

Talbot Heath School gained qualifying teams in the junior section. All four members of the team, Bertie B, Lottie V, Scarlett C and Gloria H and are joint Talbot Heath Swimming Academy and Poole Swimming Club members.

Parkstone Grammar School, qualified teams in both the Intermediate and Senior Girls categories with 50% of team members being Poole Swimming Club Members. In the Intermediate team's Jess H and Holly O of Poole, were joined by Isla M of Swim West Dorset swimming and Lizzie D of Swim Bournemouth. In the Senior teams, Ella M and Sheila M of Poole were joined by Erin H of Swim West Dorset and Gabby W of Wareham Swimming.



After a pool familiarisation, a chance for photos, the teams were in action in the 4 x 50m Freestyle relays. 

The Junior girls from Talbot Heat finished 9th in their heat and 18th overall. The Intermediate girls from Parkstone Grammar finished 8th in their heat and 16th and the Senior girls from Parkstone made the final qualifying in 10th.

In the 4 x 50m Freestyle the Senior girls all performed equally as good as the heats and finished 10th overall.

After presentations were made for the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relays, the teams headed down for the 4 x 50m Medley Relay
In the 4 x 50m Medley Relay Heats, the Junior girls from Talbot Heath finished 4th in their heat and qualified for the final in 9th position.  Whilst the Intermediate Girls of Parkstone Grammar finished 5th in their heat and made the final in 9th position. The Senior Girls of Parkstone Grammar finished 7th in their heat and 14th overall.

In the finals session, the Talbot Heath girls repeated where they qualified and finished 9th, where the Intermediate final the Parkstone Grammar girls stepped up brilliantly to take 7th place.

All teams that entered came away as National Finalists and experienced a great day out against England’s best swimmers in what was fun well organised day out.
