As part of the Swim England Pathway Programme, we would like to congratulate Robbie H on his selection to the National Event Camp starting on the 17th December for 4 days. He will be joining a cohort of 90 other swimmers who are generally British Summer Championship Medallists in each Olympic event. The Camp is split across Sheffield or Millfield for 4 days depending on each athlete's main event. The term 'National Event Camp' is because swimmers are selected based on performances in their best event. During the camp, a...

Last week, over 100 swimmers from Poole attended the West Dorset Level 3 meet, held in Dorchester on December 7th and 8th. There were two gruelling days of hard, heavy performances from everyone who swam. With over 150 medals won across the 5 sessions, the meet brought with it many PBs. New styles of racing, which swimmers and coaches have been working on, were put into practice in competition and we were joined by new swimmers from the Talbot Heath Academy link. Coach Chris commented that these swimmers had never...

A small band of swimmers from Poole Swimming Club headed up the well-paved northern routes to Sheffield for the Swim England Winter National Championships. A short course event where the pool had been transformed into a Christmas light show with banging anthems for athletes that made the walkout in finals. The Team would be joined by the healing hands of Corinne as the recovery specialist with the team pulling together to enjoy a tour of Sheffield's finest eating establishments each evening. This started on Wednesday night, at Jacobs's choice of...

Regional 1 & 2 Squads met at Sprinkles on Tuesday night for their Christmas social night. It was a chance for a get-together, to indulge in ice cream and waffles, share Secret Santa gifts and to thank their coaches for their heroic support and help since September. The event was brilliantly organised by Squad Coordinator Michelle, who also put her logistics skills to full use, organising a mammoth Secret Santa event, involving two enormous red sacks full of gifts. Coach Chris – never one to miss out on a nutrition-free...

While 127 PSC swimmers were racing in Dorchester at the West Dorset Meet, a smaller, but no less determined band of 19 athletes were en route to Aldershot for the rather civilised warmup time of 9am! Windsor Swimming Club hosted an extremely well-organised meet and were very welcoming hosts. The events ran like clockwork and finished exactly on time, at a very swim-parent-friendly 4pm! For many, this was their first time swimming at Aldershot and the diving depth of 4 metres at the finish end certainly caused some tactical examination...

We would like to wish the six swimmers representing Poole Swimming Club and Talbot Heath School at the Swim England National Winter Championships the best of luck, hosted in the Steele City of Sheffield in the fast arena of Ponds Forge. The event kicks off on Thursday and runs over 4 days. This year the Youth age group is for swimmers aged 18 or under, with a Senior open age group too. Up to 400m events will see a Senior and a Youth final. With the 800m and 1500m as...

PSC welcomed swimmers from across the County on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October in Dorchester, for our annual Season Starter Open Meet. The Black and Yellow team were out in force, setting up a hugely successful meet with 1800 swims across the weekend! Some lucky athletes even won prizes in the brilliant Hot Heats, organised by Annabel. The behind-the-scenes logistics of such an event are enormous and thanks must go to the volunteer organisers, especially Annabel, Sean and Tracy, who ensure the licensing, data entries and staffing are in...

There was a wealth of talent on show at the Millfield and Team Bath meet at the weekend. Our sincere thanks must go to the hosts for running a great meet. For the majority of swimmers this was our first chance to experience a short course meet at the start of the new season. The meet also offered an opportunity to educate our swimmers on racing in a range of different events. In the 10 year Age Group our new Junior Girls Captain Lottie V put in some fine performances....

With a 6am start, the team set off bright and early to make their way up to Matlock in Derbyshire for the Junior Inter-League Southern Area final (please don’t ask how Matlock is in the South!). Knowing that we were taking on some big clubs it was clear that this was going to be a tough challenge for a young team. Nonetheless, the team were keen and ready to take on: Guildford City, Nottingham Leander, City of Norwich, City of Coventry and Camden Swiss Cottage. Swimmers making PSC debuts in...
