On the 3rd of August a small band of Poole Swimming clubs athletes were competing in Wales. Ryan S and Liam O had gained qualification to compete for their respective Region's in the prestigious UK School Game against the very best across the whole of our land. After a season of the squad dealing with various circumstances including the South West Open Water qualifying champs being cancelled and the venue of the National Open Water Championships being switched, the squad arrived at the new venue of Thrybergh Country Park, just a few miles down the road from the orginal Sheffiled Venue in neighbouring Rotherham. The Swim England Nationals started after a brief respite from the British Summer Champs. The Nationals were held in the more familiar City of Sheffield and the pool and atmosphere were set for an exciting week. With added inspiration from team mates bagging a medal haul at the London Nuel Meet, the British Summer Championship athletes were down at the pool preparing at various times for their morning heat swims. Day 4 started smoothly with Alex C arriving at the pool first to warm up in the lane he was down to race in, shortly followed by Robbie who used the Swim Down pool to conduct his warm up in, whilst the Men’s relay team came in a little later to support their younger team mates before preparing for their event.
