Layla won the 50 & 100 Freestyle titles at the South West Regional Championships, a remarkable achievement when pitched against a number of very strong competitors. Showing great skills, and not breathing in the last 12m, saw her take the 50m event by 0.19s. Securing the 100m title by a more comfortable margin she returns to training as double Regional Champion. South West Regional Championships start next weekend. 26 swimmers have qualified for this year's event - this is a record number for the club. You've all worked hard and deserve your place at the championships. A massive thank you should go to all volunteers that work behind the scenes making sure we operate so effectively. Dorset County Junior Champion - 50 & 100 Brs Amazing racing in the heats and finals saw Jamie secure the titles at Dorset County Championships 2023. He also took the Bronze Medal in the 200 Brs and broke the club record. A tremendous achievement against some tough competition - well done Jamie!
Guildford L3 Open Meet A trip to Guildford to get some much needed race practice before we head to County Championships next weekend. Many of the swimmers were too fast for their main events which challenged them to race some unfamiliar strokes and distances. This did not put them off and WDSC brought home plenty of medals. Well done to all that attended.
WDSC Level 4 Performance Gala We saw some great swims at our recent L4 performance gala, this was licensed so the times can be used for events away from the club. It was especially pleasing to see some many of our swimmers from the training pool taking part - it's a great way to practice those race skills!! Lots of new times & PBs set.
