Fast Five results

Caroline Furze

Eight swimmers and their supporters made the five-hour return trip to Gloucester to swim in the Swim England Regional Fast Five competition this weekend.  Open only to those who have swum in Swim England SW Region Championships since 1 November 2018, this requires swimmers to swim all five sprint events on the programme: 50m butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle and 100m individual medley  Points are awarded according to times in each event and final placings are decided on the total points gained in all five events.  Our eight swimmers all swam very well, with lots of personal bests and no disqualifications.  Final results were:

Orla - 5th (age 13 girls)

Hannah - 9th (age 14 girls)

Samuel - 10th (age 13 boys)

Amy - 13th (age 14 girls)

JJ - 22nd (age 13 boys)

Harry - 27th (age 11/12 boys)

Charlotte - 22nd (age 14 girls)

Ruby - 30th (age 13 girls)
Many congratulations to them all!

Observant readers will have spotted there are nine, not eight, swimmers in the picture.  The ninth is Cara, who was ineligible to enter on the grounds of having qualified for the National Summer Meet but went to Gloucester to support.  Thank you to her, to the parents who also went to help and support and to Richard Walker for driving the mini-bus.
