Can you help?
Tavistock Swimming Club is run by volunteers; the only people who get paid are the coaches. We are always looking for more help and there are numerous ways you can get involved. For example, we always need:
-
Time keepers.
-
Swimming officials.
-
Team managers.
-
Fundraisers.
-
People willing to organise social events.
-
Committee members.
You don't need to be a swimmer or to know anything about competitive swimming: training (fully funded by the club) is available for those roles which need it. Becoming a timekeeper or swimming official gives an interesting - and useful - insight into the rules of the sport and how events are run. Team managers are responsible for looking after the swimmers during a gala and get training in child welfare and safeguarding. Events cannot run without sufficient numbers of timekeepers, officials and team managers.
Coaching
We also need:
- Coaches and assistant coaches
Training for coaches and assistant coaches can be fully or part funded, depending on need and committment to the club. Training to be an assistant coach is particularly popular amongst our older teenagers (and provides them with valuable material for their CVs and UCAS forms) but is open to adults as well.
Money!
In addition to help, we need money! Do you know of anyone who might want to donate to or sponsor the club? We are a charity; any money we get goes to further the club's activities. Sponsorship and donations help us to keep fees down, to improve what we offer our swimmers and to support our coaches in developing their own skills so they are as well placed as possible to help the swimmers.
If you think you can help in any way, or simply wish to discuss things in more detail, please contact us on [email protected].
Thank you.
