Amersham Swimming Club Vision

Amersham Swimming Club’s vision is to provide the opportunity and environment to enable and encourage swimmers and divers of all abilities to achieve their full potential. The club offers teaching to all ages and abilities from learn to swim/dive, thorough stroke development to the competitive squads and beyond to Masters for both swimming and diving. Teaching somebody to swim at a young age not only prepares them for future life but also enables them to stay fit and healthy throughout their life.

Our philosophy is to provide and cater for all abilities and backgrounds including those with disabilities, with ages ranging from 4 to over 70. Our Learn to Swim section primarily aims to provide the basic swimming skills that are essential for young children and develop their technique so they are very capable, confident and safe swimmers with a love of water. Our Stroke development section enhances this to provide the key techniques and skills so children are strong swimmers and have the best opportunity to develop into the competitive squads if they wish. Our diving club has comparable sections to introduce and enhance diving skills and we run regular block training courses for older children who also wish to take up diving. We have close links with many of the local schools and indeed supply many swimmers to local school swimming teams. Our learn to swim and stroke development sections are run at Heritage House and Maltmans Green School respectively

Our main club squads are more targeted towards competitive coaching for swimming and range from ages 7-18. The prime objective for these squads is to give capable swimmers the best opportunity to reach their full potential, to grow and support champion swimmers and give every swimmer the chance to enjoy the many aspects of competitive swimming and its many rewards. We offer team events from novice galas, through junior league competitions, our own internal club championships, through to National Swimming League events. On an individual level our objective for those wishing to follow the competitive path is to give them the best opportunity to go as far as they wish, this ranges from local open meet competitions, County Championships, Regional Championships (South East England) and National Championships.  We also offer a club squad for those who wish to train to a competitive level but who wish to take a less competitive route. From 16 – 70+ we offer masters squads for those wishing to retain fitness and still compete, and we provide opportunities for general fitness for life, to National, British and World Championship pool and open water events. For Diving we run special courses for an introduction to diving and these also offer opportunities for general fitness and competitions to the same ages groups and high levels as swimming.

At Amersham Swimming Club we feel it is essential that younger swimmers are given a fully comprehensive and well balanced environment to achieve their swimming goals and we strive to provide that key balance between school life, personal development and competitive growth. Our aim however is dual-fold as we have a passion for helping people stay in swimming, stay healthy and continue to enjoy swimming throughout their lives.
