COACH PROFILE

COACHING BACKGROUND:

I first started coaching at Amersham in 2011. In that season the club made the National Arena League final and it was my last one as a swimmer. I left there in 2014 to go travelling for a year. I then joined Chalfont Otters in September of 2015 as assistant coach. I left Chalfont after 2019 nationals and joined WSC as Head Coach in October 2019.

COACHING QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ASA level 1/2/3 in coaching swimming
  • ASA level 1/2 in teaching swimming
  • AustSwim teacher of swimming and water safety

COACHING AIMS:

My first aim was to coach someone to be more successful in the pool but that only took one season to achieve. Longer term, I would like to coach swimmers to be on national teams. In the pool I think it is vital to build a good relationship with the athlete and help them on their journey from an age group swimmer into a senior athlete. Hard work is important but having fun is a vital part of every swimmers journey.

PERSONAL SWIMMING BACKGROUND:

My personal highs as a swimmer have to be winning the english schools 4x50FC relay in a new national record in 2005. Probably the only good 50FC I ever did. I was also lucky enough to qualify for World and Commonwealth Games trials (British Champs) and nationals on a few occasions. I raced 200BK and 400&1500FC mainly. Speedo League (now known as Arena League was always great fun too!

INTERESTS AND HOBBIES:

Outside of swimming I enjoy watching most sports. I have a season ticket at Tottenham and have been lucky enough to see them in eight countries outside of the UK.
