Worksop Dolphins Swimming Club

Alex – President, Secretary & Life Member

I am the clubs longest serving member having joined the Club in its first year, when I moved from Dundee. I have served the Club in previous positions, Treasurer (10yrs) Chairman (22yrs) and I am the current President/ Secretary and officials mentor.

I have been lucky enough to win numerous awards during my 70 years in swimming, I was honoured to be President of Notts ASA in 1997, winner of the Bassetlaw Sports Awards, Lifetime Achievement in Sport award in 2008, Notts ASA Aquaforce Long Service Award in 2011, in 2019 I was the Male winner of Swim Englands East Midlands (Service To Aquatics Award). Later that year I won the silver award at Swim Englands National Awards (Long Service To Aquatics)

I am very proud to be a member of this fine Club, where many friendships have been built, and swimmers have been highly trained to compete at many events.

Elsie – Treasurer & Life Member

I joined Dolphins in 1987 as a parent along with my husband David and quickly became recruited to record results at Galas, all on paper in those days! Eventually joining the committee I took up the role of treasurer in 1996, however I feel it is now time to move on and I will be handing over the treasurer role later in 2020. I still assist with all aspects of club administration on a day to day basis as well as the organisation of Time Trials / Club Championships and our annual Open Meets. I am a member of the County (Notts ASA) Swimming Committee and involved in the organisation of all County events. In addition I support my husband helping with organising competitions at Regional level. At National level I can often be found working as a volunteer 'Front of House'. I was honored with the Presidency of Notts ASA in 2016 and received the Regional award for 'Services to Aquatics' in 2018.

I joined Dolphins in 1987 as a parent and soon became an active member of the committee. I currently advise the club on the use of Technology and Coordinate competitions such as the annual Open Meets and Club Championships. Since my children finished swimming I have continued as a volunteer in the sport and in addition to still being part of the club committee I have a very busy role as a member of the County (Notts ASA) Swimming Committee and also Swimming Secretary / Competition Manager for the Swim England East Midlands Region. In addition to Club and County and Regional events I am also a volunteer with the Technology teams at National Events. I was honored to be President of Notts ASA in 2005 and l am currently the East Midlands Region President Elect taking up the role in May 2021. I was awarded the Aquaforce Volunteer award for Outstanding Contribution at Regional level in 2011.

Elizabeth

I have been the Welfare Officer for Worksop Dolphins since February 2018.
I am around and accessible at most training sessions.
Prior to retiring I was a Child Protection Social Worker and in later years a Family Court Advisor.
It is my role as Welfare Officer to implement the ASA Wavepower Child Safeguarding Policies and Procedures and to provide a first point of contact for children, parents and adults within the club who have a child safeguarding or welfare concern.
I can be contacted by email elizabethvenners@yahoo.co.uk or directly at most of the training sessions

Trevor

I am Trevor and I teach Chemistry at Worksop College, I am also the housemaster to 50 boys, year 9 through to year 13 so my week is generally full and challenging. I have now been involved with Dolphins for almost 3 years, both my kids swim and enjoy their pool time. I truly believe in the ethos and values of this club, the coaches and swimmers are fantastic and I am very proud to be playing my small part in this awakening giant. I look forward to seeing further developments and the relationship between the club and school strengthening over the coming years.

Mark

I've been with the club on and off for almost 25 years, either as a junior swimmer or more recently as a masters swimmer. With having children in the club, I've signed up as a volunteer and support the club as Coach and Team Manager. In addition to this. I've followed in my Father's footsteps as an Official and Committee Member.

Lee

I joined the Club as a child and swam up to National Level. I also competed in the trials of the Commonwealth Games and European Championships. I now have children in the Club and would love to see the Club get back to our winning ways. I am also keen for us to redevelop the social aspect of the Club.

Zoe

I have volunteered for Worksop Dolphins for around 6 months. My daughter swims, and I could see what an amazing club this was, and wanted to give back.
I joined the committee as a voting member and have started to look at how we advertise the club and raise awareness of what we do for children and adults in our area.
In addition to this, I volunteer as a time keeper and I’m also about to start my Team Manager course and coaching.
