Return to the Pool - An Update

WSC Secretary
Firstly, a big “Thank You” to all of our swimmers, coaches and volunteers who renewed their membership with the Club for 2021.
Your ongoing support is important to us!
All we need now is to be allowed back into pool!
Last week the Prime Minister set out his 4-step plan for coming out of Lockdown 3, with pools being able to reopen in Step 2 of the plan.
Currently Step 2 will begin no earlier than 12th April, but the government will review and confirm the date nearer the day.
In the meantime, we have been in touch with WV Active about access to Central Baths.
They assure us that “there will be no delay in our sessions restarting”.
So whatever date the government says Step 2 can begin, we should have sessions starting on that day - hopefully on 12th April.
However, the government says that club sessions starting at Step 2 will only be for those swimmers who are under 18 years of age.
Unfortunately, those swimmers who are 18yrs/over will not be allowed to train in club sessions until Step 3 of the plan.
This is anticipated to begin no earlier than 17th May.
Swim England are challenging the government on this as it does appear to be a ridiculous decision.
We will have to wait and see what happens there.
So, we will keep you all informed on developments and as soon as the government confirms the date for Step 2 we will be able to plan our return.
Kind Regards
