Wells Swimmers at County Development

Somerset ASA County Development Meet

Around 30 of our younger swimmers took part at the beginning of October in the Somerset ASA County Development meet at Millfield School.  For some, it was their first experience of competitive swimming and they all tackled the challenges of their races admirably! For some of our other swimmers who compete regularly, it was a chance to gain County times in order to get into the main Somerset County event in January and February and there were some superb efforts to get these.

Medals were won by Katie Chambers, Lizzie Chambers, Ferdia Kane, Jack Freeman, Lachlan Taylor, Gabriel Chatard, Ailsa Richardson, Ralph Sweeney, Theo Truan-Thatcher, Bliss Sumbler and Sam Cavill.  Certificates for County times were also won by Declan Truan-Thatcher, Pippa Kane, Ferdia Kane, Bliss Sumbler and Owen Dukes.

The next Open meet is the Street, Taunton and Millfield L3 meet in early December.  Details have been emailed this week but if you have any questions please get in touch.  Level 3 meets are suitable for all swimmers aged 9 and over and are an excellent way to start competitive swimming.

Meanwhile, also during the meet, our new Club Secretary Neil Chambers was awarded the Volunteer Award for his work with Somerset ASA!
