EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF THE CLUB

Andrew Taylor

CHAIR

As Chairperson, I am responsible for the activities of the Committee and ensuring that all matters relating to the operation and funding of the club are being delivered through the Committee member roles according to the club constitution and ASA/Swim England requirements and regulations.  I am also responsible for the day to day operations of the club and liaise with all committee members as appropriate.

I have two children currently training at the club in County and Cygnets squads. My eldest child still swims for Wells but trains for City of Bristol (CoB) as part of the network programme.  My eldest has been swimming with Wells Swimming Club since 2014.

Sarah Purdie

CLUB SECRETARY

My role as Club Secretary is to provide the central point of administration, information and communication. I deal with all correspondence and communications, and I support the smooth running of club.  I am also a link between members, potential members and external organisations e.g. pool operators, local authorities, and the ASA Regions.

I have been a 'swimming' parent and active member of the Masters squad for 4 years - my son has been a committed member over the 4 years and continues to swim successfully in Regional squad.  I am also a qualified Swim Teacher and Assistant Coach and L1 official so can usually be found poolside!

 

Linda Chambers

TREASURER

My role as Club Treasurer is to be responsible for producing and managing the club’s accounts and finances, and reporting back to the Club Chairperson. This role includes being responsible for all income and expenditure for the club.

I have been a 'swimming' parent with the club for 12 years!  In the last couple of years I have also been an active member of the Masters squad. Both of my children have been committed competitive swimmers over the years and continue to swim successfully in Regional squad.

 

 

 

Richard Smith

MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY

My role as Membership Secretary involves making sure that all new swimmers/parents receive, complete and return relevant paperwork for welfare and fees purposes.  I ensure that all swimmers/coaches/volunteers are registered with the ASA at the correct level for their commitment to the club.

I have been a 'swimming' parent with the club for 5 years! All 3 of my children have been committed members over the years, my eldest daughter has now left but my younger daughter and son continue to swim successfully in Regional and Development squads.

 

Marisa Taylor

COMPETITION SECRETARY

As Competition Secretary, I am responsible for handling all entries to the various open meets our swimmers compete in.  I work alongside Head Coach Miles Denyer to plan a programme of meets over the year that will be most suited to our swimmers.  I also handle the entries for County and Regional competitions. 

In addition I organise the clubs entries into team competitions and galas: Four Seasons galas, Cotswold League and Arena League.

I am also responsible for ensuring we have enough officials attending each meet so the competitions can be supported.

I have two children currently training at the club in County and Cygnets squads. My eldest child still swims for Wells but trains for City of Bristol (CoB) as part of the network programme.  My eldest has been swimming with Wells Swimming Club since 2014.  I am also a qualified Assistant Coach and Team Manager and have previously swum with Masters.

WELFARE OFFICER / COMMITTEE MEMBER

As the club Welfare Officer I am one of the points of contact for coaches, members, and parents for any issue concerning child protection or the welfare of swimmers.

I have two children, one of which swims in Regional squad and the other in County squad, and both have been swimming with Wells SC for 3 years.

WELFARE OFFICER (Non Committee)

As the club Welfare Officer I am one of the points of contact for coaches, members, and parents for any issue concerning child protection or the welfare of swimmers.

I have two children, my son swims in Swans squad, and has been swimming with Wells SC for 2 years. My daughter now swims in Masters having reached County level swimming in previous years.  As well as holding the Welfare role I am a qualified Teacher and Assistant Coach and J1 official so can often be seen on poolside at meets entered by the club.

COVID LEAD

I am responsible as COVID-19 Lead for the club, ensuring all club COVID-19 procedures comply with the guidance provided by Swim England and the requirements of our pool providers.

FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR

As Fundraising coordinator, I provide a central point of contact for fundraising queries and take the lead on developing opportunities for accessing grants and funding.  I am also liaising with local businesses with the aim to recruit sponsors for the club.

I have been a 'swimming' parent / active member with the club for 12 years` - both of my children have been committed members over the years and continue to swim successfully in Regional squad.
